Demands on resistance welding of the connectors in a lead-acid battery are most special. Especially welding spatters must, on the one hand, be avoided as relatively large quantities of liquid lead are spattering about the production unit which results in unusable batteries. On the other hand, so-called "cold spots" must be avoided as those lead to the deterioration of the battery in later application.
Here, the medium-frequency systems of the SPATZ and AutoSPATZ lines have stood the test; this applies to new installations and also to subsequent installation into elder units. The standard equipment of these power sources comprises, among other things: Limit value management and alarm management, integrated welding date storage system, possibility of process data analysis, different control strategies and user-configurable current profiles.
